About this piece

This piece is so cool! It looks like the dragon is being held together by fire or magma with its skull rib cage, and wings floating over the top. I’m pretty sure the picture was taken on top of a toilet tank because it was daytime and only dark in the bathroom. I’m sure I’ll do more dragons in the future, but this one checks all the boxes for now.

Carving tips

If you are new to using a stencil with as little inter-shape definition as this, consider marking off the different shape divisions by shade intensity with a pencil, and remember that it’s good to generalize them. Make things easy for yourself!
