Bandit Keith

The man with a deck full of machines, a pair of sunglasses, and a flag bandana on his head. In America.

About this piece

This carving makes me laugh every time I see a picture of it. "In America," is Bandit Keith's catchphrase from Little Kuriboh's abridged version of Yu-Gi-Oh. The American stereotype wearing a flag bandana on his head ends every statement with "In America," so I naturally had to add the stars and stripes in the background.

The joke aside, this carving came out so cleanly that I also think it's quite beautiful.

Carving tips

  • The stubble on Bandit Keith's chin consists of what I call "islands." They follow the same rules as everything else, but can be tricky because they are made by isolating tiny spots which MUST NOT be carved out from the middle of a bigger piece which must. Make sure you cut a clean separation between them and the larger piece so they remain.
